Art and Dementia
Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:28 pm
I know art can be helpful for people who have dementia. Do you have dementia? Or do you care for someone who has dementia, or run an art group or art therapy for people with dementia?
#WorldAlzheimersDay is almost here (21 Sep).
Sometimes people who have dementia don't respond to an art activity at first, but as they watch they might be drawn in to take part or help someone else. As their motor skills decline, they may have to adjust to new art forms or styles, but creativity might still help. People who struggle with language may find it easier to communicate or to interact with others through art.
Have you seen art's impact on dementia?
